Leibovitz’ L-15 Medium without L-Glutamine
Description
Leibovitz’ L-15 Medium was developed by Dr. Leibovitz as a buffering system based on free base amino acids, inorganic salts, and the substitution of galactose for glucose.
Most media are buffered by a combination of sodium bicarbonate and an atmosphere enriched in CO2. The latter is usually provided through the use of a specially equipped incubator. L-15 was developed at a time when such equipment was not readily available.
- Without Sodium Bicarbonate
- Designed for cell culture without CO2
- With Phenol Red
- Without L-glutamine
Applications
L-15 has been used for the culture of HEp-2 monkey kidney and primary explants of embryonic and adult human tissue, and a variety of other cells. Many viruses have also been cultivated in this medium.
