PYREX Cyanide Distilling Apparatus

Description

This PYREX cyanide distilling apparatus is used in testing for soluble and insoluble cyanides in water. Cyanide as hydrocyanic acid (HCN) is released from cyanide complexes by means of a reflux-distillation and absorbed in a scrubber containing a sodium hydroxide solution. Tygon tubing connects the reaction/distillation section to the absorption scrubber making set-up easier and less susceptible to glass breakage. Inlet tubes have funnel openings for easy addition of acid.

Apparatus meets the requirements of E.P.A. SW-846 methods 9010 and 9012, and ASTM method D-2036.
