Description
Sodium pyruvate is used by cells as an easily accessible carbohydrate source. Additionally, it is involved with amino acid metabolism and initiates the Krebs cycle. The 100mM solution should be diluted 1:100 for most cell culture applications.

Recommendation
Protect from light. Add to cell culture media as a carbon source at 1mM or 100mg/mL.
